By the time you reach middle age you've stopped needing theories and agendas and boxes to put yourself in. Most days I draw, sometimes serious observational drawing, sometimes expressive gestural drawing, other days I paint. I think far too much about too many things. All this activity leads to sculpture and experience teaches me that if I approach it with too much planning it will be drab beyond belief and I'll bore myself building it. So I can't say I'm examining the position of the male in the twenty first century or the politics of envy or Catholic guilt or making any kind of comment on anything in particular. Except that I am, of course, and everything else that occurs to me tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
